The City of Airdrie has invested significant time and resources into a comprehensive downtown revitalization plan. This initiative is designed to create jobs, enhance community spaces, and make downtown a hub for businesses, residents, and visitors. As your representative on the city council, I won’t stand in the way of the work that's already been done—but I will work to ensure we move forward in ways that benefit the most people, sooner.
For residents, this plan means more community spaces, safer and accessible streets, and an exciting downtown with more places to shop, eat, and have fun. Encouraging pedestrian and cyclist-friendly areas—while maintaining good road access and convienient parking—will create a welcoming environment for everyone. Events, pop-up markets similar to AirdrieFest, and new public spaces will give Airdronians more to do, strengthening that sense of community.
For businesses, this revitalization plan offers a unique opportunity to grow and thrive. The city’s downtown incentives program is designed to help storefronts upgrade, add outdoor seating or patios, maybe install public art from local artists, and create more inviting spaces for customers. This plan isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about creating foot traffic, attracting investment, and making downtown a destination that supports local business success.
Most importantly, the plan is expected to create over 3,500 new jobs, and a much-needed boost to our local economy. A thriving downtown benefits everyone—strong businesses mean more jobs, which means a stronger tax base, which then leads to better city services for EVERYONE.
Moving forward, Airdrie’s city council must focus on fast-tracking responsible development while ensuring decisions reflect the needs of our entire community—not just investors or special interest groups. My commitment is to help guide city policy so we avoid unnecessary obstacles and make downtown revitalization a success for all Airdronians.
Let’s build a downtown that works for everyone—where businesses flourish, residents feel connected, and visitors are excited to explore.
